Company History

In 1992, longtime friends, Hal Chatfield and Barry Payne decided to go into business together. In the back of Hal’s father’s print shop, Diversified Printing was born. Working for Hal’s father during the day and running their own business at night, Barry and Hal grew their business the old fashioned way…late nights and hard work. Sometimes the two would split the nights into shifts, running their press straight through the night in order to have their jobs done before starting work the next morning.

In October of 1994, John Dawson, a graphic arts equipment executive came on board as managing partner of the business. Through John's direction and the experience and expertise of the partnership the business grew quickly.

What began with 2 clients had become more than 600 customers throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding areas. As the clientele grew, Hal, Barry and John began asking what other services they could offer to help their clients be more successful, and in 1995, Diversified Printing became Diversified Companies LLC, encompassing 3 different companies…Printing, Mailing and Specialties. In 2001, Diversified Digital was added to assist customers who had book publishing needs and Diversified Design was started shortly after.

From 2 friends in the back of a warehouse to a staff of more than 30 employees working in a state of the art printing facility and from 2 clients to more than 600 customers, Diversified has never changed in its main focus…Late nights, hard work and the desire to make our customers look their best.  

Here at Diversified, our desire is to make lifetime customers, not one time customers. We take pride in putting our customers first, because after all…when you’re successful, we’re successful.

Black and white digital production
3 - Kodak Digimasters running @ 110 copies per minute complete with High Cap Stackers and Bookletmakers. Two are equipped with post processing devices.
1 - Xerox DC180 Docutec running @ 180 copies per minute equipped with tapebinding and High Cap Stacking.
3 - Cannon IR105's used for short run variable data and general copying. 1 equipped with saddlestitch bookletmaker and both with Large Capacity trays and output.

Digital Color Production
1- Xerox 242 Color With Booklet making
1 - Xerox Doc 6060 digital color with sheet sizes up to 12.5x19
1 - Xerox DC 8000 AP digital color producing 80 copies per minute

 Offset Press production
1-AB DICK 9985 True Two Color
3 -  Duplicators with 2 color units
1 - Shinohara 20x26 two color press with perfecting
1 - Sakurai 28" 5 color press with aqueous coating
1 - Komori  40" 6 color with perfecting and aqueous coating.

Bindery
Complete Bindery facility to include multiple collating and stitching with trimming
Numbering, perforating, perfect binding, folding, wrapping, laminating, and just about anything else you can do to a sheet of paper.

Foil Stamping
2 - Foil Stamping machines to include Die cutting 
 
Mail Services
We process over 1.5 million pieces of mail per month from variable data to standard presort mail.

Specialty Services
We are an authorized ASI distributor with access to over 1million items from over 7000 vendors. We are capable of embroidery and silk screen printing on apparel.

Inventory Management
Inventory Management System web based for complete Fullfillment and warehousing operations and worldwide shipping.

Experience
All of these are complimented with the people that we have working for us. Our rookie in the press department has over 26 years of experience. We also have 5 full time people in the art dept and run cross platform (Mac and PC) and are on a PDF workflow. Our people are what makes the difference with our business. They genuinely care and take good care of our customers, after all that has been the cornerstone of our success.
